How can an MRI Scan help me?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the most precise method for diagnosing many of the body’s health issues and diseases. The imaging produced by this technology is so detailed it is like being right inside the human body. An MRI is ideal for diagnosing and visualizing:

  • Tumors of the pituitary gland and brain
  • Infections in the brain, spine or joints
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Torn ligaments in the wrist, knee and ankle
  • Masses in the soft tissues of the body
  • Bone tumors, cysts and bulging or herniated discs in the spine
  • Strokes in their earliest stages

Typical areas scanned with an MRI include:

  • Brain
  • Temporomandibular joint
  • Cervical spine
  • Thoracic spine
  • Lumbar spine
  • Sacroiliac joints
  • Shoulder
  • Sternoclavicular joints
  • Brachial Plexus
  • Humerus
  • Forearm
  • Wrist
  • Hand
  • Fingers
  • Abdomen
  • Pelvis
  • Hips
  • Thigh
  • Knee
  • Tibia/Fibula
  • Ankle
  • Foot

MRI exams are a safe and preferred method of medical imaging because, unlike other medical imaging exams, they do not expose the body to any radiation.
There are no known risks or side effects associated with a standard MRI procedure; however, as with any diagnostic image testing, you should only undergo an MRI if you have valid medical concerns and the backing of your physician. Consult your doctor to decide whether an MRI exam is right for diagnosing your ailment and to provide any medical history we might need to specify the area of testing.
